No Child Abuse.

Should parents be allowed to hit their children? No. I believe it is very wrong for any parents to hit their children—even if it was to teach them a lesson. I think any children shouldn’t get hit. I have gone through a lot of hitting and even abuse. My reasons are based on the way any parents could hit/abuse their children to the point where they can get an injury; it could hurt the child/children emotionally and there is a better ways to discipline their children with a punishment that doesn’t involve any hitting or abuse.

First of all, any parents could hit/abuse their children to the point where they can get an injury and then the parents would have to pay for the hospital bills for a broken body part—so, I believe that hitting/abusing children is just a waste of time and even money. To relate this to Huckleberry and his father—his father used a cowhide and used it to hit his son a several times—that could’ve gotten Huckleberry an injury.

Secondly, a single, small hit can hurt the child/children emotionally—making the child/children become a different or even a bad person. It can make them think it’s okay to hit/abuse other people too. In the story, Huckleberry stands there as a bad, low-function person—all because of the influence people in Huckleberry’s life have on him. The widow doesn’t even hit or abuse Huckleberry and always tries to teach him what’s right and what’s wrong and most of the time Huckleberry listens to her.

Lastly, I believe there are other punishments parents can use instead of hitting their children and hurting them emotionally/physically—like for example, parents should keep their children in a room or just not let them watch television and listen to music. They can also ground them and not let them go anywhere, such as parties and friends houses.

In conclusion, if you still think parents should hit/abuse their children, then I will think of a lot of reasons to prove you it’s really wrong to hit/abuse children. However, you can see why I don’t believe in hitting/abusing children because it can give children an injury, hurt them emotionally or even change them into a different/bad person and there are many ways to give children a punishment that doesn’t involve any hitting and abusing.
